Sitting here bored, I figured I could do with some finger exercise

Did you know that five tourists were kidnapped in Yemen last month? What about that if you have a Israeli stamp in your passport they wont let you in the countrie?

While sitting with a friend last shabbos looking for more interesting places to check out in the near future, a friend of his who is from Yemen stopped by, I was reminded of a NGM article about Yemen, and started asking him about going there.

The only things he really knew was that it is more dangerous then Morocco, and that the way the tribal chiefs are kept under control is by having one of their sons in a compound under the control of the president or king ( I am not sure if its still in practice) and if they misbehave he kills their kid.

So I checked it up online, and found the above mentioned info, as well as the fact that it is one of the poorest countries in the oil rich middle east where the average high level hotel costs about $20 a night.

There was a interesting article I found on the Yemen times web site,
about how the only place you really have democratic elections by the Arabs are in the two occupied countries (sic), and that the other "free Arab states" should be ashamed of themselves.

So for now I think I will stick with planning a trip to Morocco and the Atlas mountains, and have to make due with the view I had of Yemen from across the sea of reeds in Masawa Eritrea.

There they go

Two friends in one week, engaged. One friend getting married tomorrow. Others dropping hints that they are actively seeking a partner for life. Me, I am in denial.

Time to start packing for my road trip, I am flying out west to take my two younger brothers on a 10 day family visiting/ski road trip during their winter vacation, but first tomorrow there is skiing, then a wedding.

Its amazing what a juniors cheese cake can do, we have a deal out in the mid west, where for a fresh cheese cake, we get free ski rentals for as long as we need them.

Cant sleep

Went skiing today.

Probably half the frum Jews in Brooklyn were there.

Decided to go down a double diamond that everyone else was avoiding (for some crazy reason) had a good time getting down.

Got turned away from the shopping I had planned on doing on my way home, by being told that they close at 6 pm.

Can’t sleep.
